Breaking News: Controversial Oscar Winner Charlton Heston Passes
Charlton Heston passed away Saturday night in his Beverly Hills home with his wife of 64 years Lydia at his side. Heston was 84 years-old. The actor announced in 2002 that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s. He won an Oscar for his leading role in “Ben Hur” in 1959.
Heston was also a controversial figure as the President of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003. Although Heston marched with Dr. Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights movement, he was perceived by many as a racist due to his controversial comments in Michael Moore’s documentary “Bowling for Columbine”, where he attributed America’s murder rate to “mixed ethnicities” in America.
