Breaking News: Controversial Oscar Winner Charlton Heston Passes

By Monica Peters Medina

Charlton Heston passed away Saturday night in his Beverly Hills home with his wife of 64 years Lydia at his side. Heston was 84 years-old. The actor announced in 2002 that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s. He won an Oscar for his leading role in “Ben Hur” in 1959.

Heston was also a controversial figure as the President of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003. Although Heston marched with Dr. Martin Luther King during the Civil Rights movement, he was perceived by many as a racist due to his controversial comments in Michael Moore’s documentary “Bowling for Columbine”, where he attributed America’s murder rate to “mixed ethnicities” in America.

“Cover”-The Must See Film of The Year: Trailer & Film Review Below

By Monica Peters Medinacover-promo.jpg

“One of the best and powerful films I’ve seen in the past two years..Right up there with The Great Debaters”..Monica Medina

Hey everyone,

“Cover” the murder mystery thriller directed by legend, icon and actor Bill Duke is nothing short of phenomenal. The film starring Aunjanue Ellis, Raz Adoti, Leon, Louis Gossett Jr., Vivica A. Fox, Roger Guenevere Smith and Paula Jai Parker leaves audiences in shock-literally. Director Bill Duke’s gift for story telling truly speaks to why he is one of the greatest legends, icons and directors of our generation. “Cover” takes many twists and turns that keeps movie goers engaged. The story line touches deeply on the AIDS and downlow epidemics in the African-American community. The shining gem of this film is that the storyline is in no way shape or form predictable. Everytime you think you know what’s going to happen next, you really don’t. The events are realistic, believable and gives the movie goer deep insight into a secretive world and culture. Although “Cover” is a murder mystery thriller with a serious message, it also has it’s fair share of humor and extreme characters to lighten up the mood.

This film is a must see but it is truly an excellent movie on all levels from the storyline to the fine cast of actors. This is one of the best films I’ve seen in the past two years.

If you are still not convinced why you should see Bill Duke’s murder mystery thriller “Cover”: AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN CONSIST OF 73% OF ALL THE AIDS CASES IN THE US. IN WASHINGTON DC ALONE, ONE IN EVERY SEVEN AFRICAN AMERICAN MALES ARE INFECTED WITH THE HIV VIRUS. *Interview with Bill Duke and actor Raz Adoti on now.

peters-pic.jpgIn case you all were wondering, to date as of January 31, 2008, The Great Debaters has grossed 29, 279,308 at the box office.

**Big up to the film critic from the major NYC “arts” newspaper who “borrowed” my angle for my First Sunday film review for your website. Next time I will post my original post and post your “borrowed” version to show the world that you are not that original. Shame on you. You are supposed to be writing for one of the best publications in the world.

Have a great day!

Kennedy’s and Babies Back Barack!

“I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans.”….Caroline Kennedy speaking on her support for Barack Obama.

The influential and powerful Kennedy dynasty supports Barack Obama for President. For those of you who don’t know that is MAJOR. This is definitely a major blow to the Clinton campaign. Apparently the Kennedy’s are fed up with the Clinton’s injecting race into the campaign. Ted Kennedy is also upset about Bill and Hilary’s remarks about Dr. Martin Luther King and his legacy. I’m just fed up with Bill and Hilary’s arrogant attitude like they are entitled to the Black vote. Quite frustrating.

Love this photo. Even babies are for Obama!
